Nendo continues playing around with chocolate texture
Nendo likes to play around with senses by creating designs that draw in more than just the eye or the hands to touch. One excellent and most obvious example for that is their Chocolatexture project from 2015, executed in collaboration with chocolate manufacturer by I n. Upon recognising that texture has an effect on taste, they created a series of bite-sized chocolate chunks with different, rough finishes. Upon tasting the sweets, the act of eating is broken up into several phases like bite, roll, or melt, leading to a singular and novel sensory experience.
One year later, Nendo decided to return to the project and expanded the designer chocolate line with two new additions. The chocolatexturebar is a more direct continuation of the initial collection, as it is based on the same principle and it intends to evoke the exact same tasting experience, just in a different form. Leaving the bite-sized realm behind, they put the idea of textured chocolate into the traditional bar form. In the chocolate grid, each square has a different texture, playing in either dots, stripes, zigzags surfaces to create different sensations in the mouth. The experience is further strengthened by the 5 flavouring available.
The idea of flavour becomes the key element in the other line, the chocolamixture. Here, Nendo stepped up their game and allow users to customise their own chocolate. They created tiny flasks out of chocolate featuring lids that are also made of white chocolate. The inner space can be filled with any combination of the 5 different flavourings that come in test tubes with the set. Dried fruits and various fun-coloured and shaped candies play further on the idea of textural sensations, while at the same time they rely on flavour more explicitly, and allow customers to create their very own combinations.
