TOG's flagship store is just as customisable as their furniture
Philippe Starck invited architecture studio Triptyque to collaborate for the designing of TOG’s global flagship store in Sao Paulo. Under Starck’s art direction, an '80s game club was turned into a furniture showroom and so much more. The 4-storied, 2100 sqm building houses offices, a warehouse, a restaurant, a garden, and spaces for social activities like arts and crafts workshops, meetings, or even parties. The multi-functional venue aims at attracting people from all walks of life with different backgrounds and interests, an idea that resonates with the democratic drive behind TOG’s concept.
Launched last year, the design company wishes to nearen the gap between high quality craftsmanship and humanity. They offer carefully designed, basic furniture mass produced in Italy, that can be personalised by the customers online or instore.
Easy customisation was also a key principle for the designing of the flagship store. There are no partition walls between ambiances or functions, resulting in an organic space that can be configured according to actual needs. The interior is kept minimal with white walls and exposed concrete beams, creating a slightly industrial but neutral milieu where the showcased products and ongoing activities do the rest of the talking. With its multi-faceted functional possibilitiers, TOG's store is a 21st take on Warhol's Factory.
