Swedes design their dream home by internet clicks
According to the searches and clicks on the website, the ideal Swedish home is 120 m2, has 3 bedrooms, 1,5 floors, and preferably a balcony or a rooftop terrace. The heart of the home is the open-plan kitchen, which, as the main space for socializing, has a living-room quality to it.
Apart from drawing on numbers, an image research was also conducted, thus minor preferences like the shape of bathroom tiles or sofa upholstery could also be traced. The result is what people usually think of as ‘Scandinavian style’; bright, spacious rooms with white walls, light-toned furniture made out of organic materials, and lots of light.
With the falu red colouring and ribbing of the facade reminiscent of traditional country cottages, the building itself also fits into the Swedish architectural tradition. At the same time, the basic box-like shape celebrates modernity, welfare, and functionality in the purest form.
