CR2 Arquitetura's Casa de Jardins is a nod to modernism
The open-plan ground floor plays the role of the communal area, with large, double-height sliding doors to maximize sunlight. Being in a densely populated urban environment, managing sunlight was key to crafting a livable abode. The granite flooring extends beyond the sliding doors, blurring the lines between inside and outside. A sculptural concrete staircase is right next to the living room area, making it a central element of the spacious floor layout.
The house takes its name fromm the abundance of plantlife inside. Throughout the design process, strategically placed voids were created on both floors, where lush gardens were later installed. These mini gardens are visible from every room in the house, complementing the modernism-inspired architecture with a sense of intimacy.
The upper floor is seen as a 'floating' concrete box from the outside. It houses the three bedrooms and a media room for entertainment purposes. A balcony with a wooden floor completes the upper storey, with even more greenery on the outside.
