Cabin by Atelier Oslo
The irregular shape was created in response to the harsh environment. In order to resolve the issue of windy conditions, the house was based on a cross plan, which formed a number of exterior hideaways. The structure was created by using prefabricated elements, which were assembled on the site.
The cross shape divides the interior into zones and indicates the functions of the different rooms. The central area features an open fireplace, which acts as the main heating device, while the electricity is provided by two solar panels. The organic shapes have been created from 4mm birch plywood elements. The smooth curves form multiple levels that can be used as sitting spots.
