nendo creates graphics and packaging work for luxe Philippine banana
This special, high-quality variant of the popular fruit is grown on a plantation in a Philippine national park, at altitudes higher than 1,000 metres. Adhering to the requirement to use only organic fertilizers and the strict restriction on the use of pesticides, they became the first bananas to be awarded with an impressive 2 Stars at the International Taste and Quality Institute (iTQi) Superior Taste Awards in Belgium.
The finest bananas in the world called for design work on par with the fruits. Oki Sato's multidisciplinary studio designed a special sticker for the bananas mimicking the color, texture and even the blemishes of the fruits. The stickers are made up of two layers, with a yellow outer layer carrying only the logo, and the inner layer serving up the textual context.
A special carrying bag has also been designed by nendo. Removing the rope holding it together provides easy access to the bananas. Moreover, the bag folds out into a single sheet of paper, designed to look like a banana leaf, with the flipside explaining the rigorous routine behind the Shiawase bananas.
As per usual, this is Japan only. With this many exclusive products, it's high time to be a Japanese proxy.
