Miro Foundation's anniversary identity by Mucho is bold and sculptural
Barcelonian Fundació Miró is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. They selected creative agency Mucho to create the identity and communication of the festive occasion. The brief of the commission focused on two things: first of all, the identity had to avoid any Mironian references, as it is already present in the foundation’s corporate identity. Secondly, Mucho were asked to create something that makes it easy for the people of Barcelona to relate to the center.
Miro’s visual language put aside, inspiration for the identity was drawn from the building housing the Fundacio. Designed by Josep Lluís Sert in the 70s, it has a bold, statuesque quality, leading to a distinctive skyline. Along the number 40, this provided the starting point for the strong typographic modular system build by Mucho. The plump bauhausesque typeset appears not only on print publications (posters, cards, etc), but it takes a 3D shape on specially issued stationery as well.
