Icon's 150th issue marks the launch of a refreshed design
The cover of the anniversary issue was designed by Norwegian multi-disciplinary studio Snøhetta, whose hands-on, direct approach reflects the editorial team’s new design drive well. The logo and some of the texts were treated with UV paint, that, apart from the fluorescent effect, gives the front a tactile quality. Visual language was pushed inside and out: to achieve easier legibility and a more modern impression, the previously used Swift Neue LT Pro is applied in a bigger size from now on.
Content-wise, Icon sets out to commission as much original photography and illustration as possible to maintain a coherent look and style. Content was freshened not only from the outside, but a new organising strategy was also introduced: articles are divided into the three categories of Lifestyle, Architecture, and Objects, each section differing subtly in their layout and illustrations.
