Eames Retrospective opens at the Barbican
Based on professional and personal archives, the exhibition cover all aspect of their works with putting 380 objects on display, most of them shown for the first time in the United Kingdom. Organised along thematic clues, the collection features works not only by the Eames but by an array of creative geniuses belonging to their circle, like Fuller, Girard, Noguchi, Saarinen, etc, just to mention a few outstanding names.
This impressive list already signals that The World of Charles and Ray Eames covers a much wider topic than the title suggests: the Barbican show gives a comprehensive overview of post-war Modernism, not only design-wise, but from a social, political, cultural point of view as well, making the exhibition highly inspiring for anyone who is at least slightly interested in mid-century lifestyle. The exhibition is on iuntil 14 February 2016.
