Rotating Kitchen by Zeger Reyers
Zeger Reyers’s Rotating Kitchen is partly a performance space and partly a mechanized installation.
The performance show starts from a woman cooking in the kitchen space. Once she steps out to take a break, the whole room tilts on its axis, making a revolution every fifteen minutes with falling food and crushing glassware. According to the artist the performance is a re-imagination of a kitchen as a whole planet and the world as a kitchen “…where ingredients become food, which is being cooked up, heated, kept in the fridge, reheated, deep-frozen, put in the microwave, thrown away, left to rot.”
